Amarsher attended the Vancouver fair, and won the grand prize: a free round-trip flight on Air Canada.
We had a wonderful time at this Spring’s Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs, in three cities — Toronto, Vancouver, and, for the first time, Mississauga. Students, parents, and guidance staff attended to learn about schools, programs, and working / volunteer travel opportunities. Of course, one of the best parts of the fairs is the prizes!
Air Canada is our generous grand prize sponsor, offering one lucky fair attendee a round-trip flight anywhere in the world! A cool prize, perfectly fitting with the fairs’ themes of travel and exploration.
Let’s take a minute to meet our grand prize winner, Amarsher, who joined us for the Vancouver leg of the fair from his home in Surrey, BC.
Attending the fair
“The fair was an incredible experience,” Amarsher says. “It provided me with a chance to explore a wide range of academic opportunities, meet representatives from different institutions, and gain valuable insights into post-secondary education.” He found the upbeat vibes of the fair appealing, too. “The atmosphere was welcoming, and I appreciated the opportunity to ask questions directly.”
Getting up-close and personal with college and university recruiters from Canada and around the world helped Amarsher explore his options. “Speaking with representatives helped me understand admission requirements, scholarship options, and the application process more clearly,” he said. “It also reinforced the importance of networking and taking advantage of educational events like this.”
“I would highly recommend attending,” Amarsher continues. “My advice would be to come prepared — have a list of questions, take notes, and engage… You never know what opportunities might come your way!” Solid advice for attending a fair, and for life in general.
Going abroad for higher education
“I plan to pursue an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) at the University of Birmingham,” Amarsher says, with the goal of becoming a practicing lawyer — perhaps in the UK, back home in Canada, or elsewhere around the world, as a law degree can open doors to all sorts of opportunities.
Amarsher intends to “specialize in a field of law that allows [him]to advocate for justice and help people navigate the legal system.” Sounds like a goal worth pursuing!
The grand prize: a flight around the world on Air Canada
Air Canada, our grand prize sponsor, offers our lucky winner a free round-trip flight anywhere Air Canada flies. “I might use the flight to visit India or the UK,” Amarsher says. “If I go to India, it would be a great opportunity to visit family and spend quality time with loved ones before starting my studies abroad.”
Of course, since Amarsher’s attending the University of Birmingham soon, he’s also considering the United Kingdom. “If I go to the UK, it would help me settle in before my studies begin, explore my new surroundings, and get familiar with life in Birmingham ahead of my university journey.” Either way, he continues, “both options would be valuable in preparing for my next chapter.”
Getting the info needed to make a good decision
By way of parting, Amarsher offers his thanks. “It’s initiatives like these that help students make informed decisions about their future,” he says. “Winning this prize is truly an honour, and I appreciate the support!”
The honour is all ours, Amarsher. Thanks for attending a Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fair. Enjoy your flight, send us some pics, and have a great time at the University of Birmingham developing your law career. Bon voyage!
(PS, the next round of Study and Go Abroad / SchoolFinder Fairs takes place in October, in Vancouver, Calgary, Montréal, Toronto, and Mississauga. See you there.)
