Make this summer count!

Schools and universities are nearly out! What have you got planned for this summer? There’s more to summer than catching up on your sleep and your favourite shows, and spending your day on FB and Twitter. Here are a few ideas:

  • Get a summer job: who doesn’t need some extra cash? Earn money, get some work experience, and meet new people. Just a reminder that most jobs are not advertised, so get the word out to your friends and family that you are looking.
  • Volunteer for a good cause: help others while helping yourself by offering your services for free, whether it be for your local animal shelter, with kids’ camps or the local soup- kitchen. After all, volunteering looks great on your resume.
  • Create a bucket list: have you always wanted to learn French in Paris? How about taking a semester abroad in New York? A post-grad degree in London? Researching and writing down your goals will go a long way to making them happen.
  • Take a trip somewhere: if you still have some money left from your student loan, do some travelling. Look out for budget flights or last minute deals, and check out cheap accommodation options like couch surfing or AirBnB.
  • Get in shape: start working off the junk food that you lived on while revising for your end- of-year exams, and go out for a run. Or better still, de-stress with some yoga classes. Your body and mind will thank you for it!
