2021 World University Rankings by Subject

1

Each year, QS publishes their world university rankings by subject, covering a total of 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas.

Although ranking shouldn’t be your only deciding factor when choosing a university for your studies, it’s interesting to see which universities are making it to the top of the list for your chosen subject. These rankings are based on research citations, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics.  This year’s rankings analysed nearly 14,000 programs from 1,440 universities across 85 locations around the world.

New for this year, Chinese universities now have a record number of universities in the top 50 across subject areas, and Russian universities have a record number of top 20 universities.  And no university in the world is included in the top 50 for a subject more than the University of Toronto.
